11:52 a.m. on Aug. 26, 2026 – Tarleton State Risk Management is monitoring the air quality due to the smoke and a fire-related odor in the Stephenville area.
Heavy smoke across Stephenville and nearby areas is coming from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties. Shifting winds are carrying smoke southeast into Erath and surrounding counties.
Air quality is currently considered moderate. Students, faculty and staff participating in outdoor activities are encouraged to monitor air quality and adjust plans as needed.
