Silver Taps Ceremony 2024

Tuesday, April 16 | 7:00pm | Alumni Island

Hosted by the Texan Corps of Cadets, Tarleton Ambassadors, Tarleton Alumni Association, and Institutional Advancement, the Silver Taps memorial service is held each spring to remember members of the university family — alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends — who passed away during the previous year (March – March).

The Tarleton Alumni Association invites guests to a reception beginning at 6:30pm prior to the ceremony at 7:00pm on April 16th, the Tuesday of founders week.

During the service as each name is called from the Honor Roll, candle bearers process to the John Tarleton statue and stand until all names are honored.

The ceremony includes “Taps” played by students and a 21-gun salute. The ceremony concludes with the Tarleton Benediction and all candles and flames being extinguished.

Families are welcome to participate as a candle bearer on behalf of their honored loved one, according to their comfort level, and we encourage students, employees, and alumni to participate to show support for their Tarleton family.

For additional information or to serve as a volunteer candle bearer, please contact the Office of Alumni Engagement…Office at (254) 968-9682 or [email protected]
