Oscar P appears both as a chatbot in some of the university pages, and as a text message assistant who will text current students important information.

WHO RECEIVES OSCAR P TEXT MESSAGES?

The Department of Student Retention coordinates Oscar P text messages to all undergraduate students, unless the student has opted out. Outreach is conducted to inform students of various university events, registration reminders and deadlines, financial information, and even wellness campaigns. If you are a current student, we highly recommend that you save the number in your phone contacts so that you don’t miss out on important reminders!

WHO CAN COMMUNICATE WITH OSCAR P’S ONLINE CHATBOT?

Anyone can communicate with Oscar P, our virtual campus assistant. Oscar P is an online chatbot designed to help you quickly find answers and resources. Whether you need information about campus events, deadlines, academic support, or student services. Oscar P makes navigating university life easier—no waiting or searching through multiple pages.

CAN STUDENTS OPT-OUT OF RECEIVING TEXT MESSAGES?

Students can pause text messages from Oscar P using the #pause command.  Students may opt out completely by using the STOP command. This may be undone by replying START.

HOW CAN YOU COMMUNICATE WITH THE OSCAR P CHATBOT?

Oscar P is available 24/7 on Tarleton’s website. Just click the chatbot icon on any participating page, type your question, and get instant guidance. Oscar P chatbot is also available on the Navigate360 Student App for enrolled students.
