School of Engineering

Greetings from the School of Engineering! The School of Engineering at Tarleton State University is home to some of the fastest-growing disciplines on our campus. Our brand new $54M, 98,000 sq. ft. the facility along with our breadth of industry/research-grade equipment enhances our ability to engage our students in innovative ways to prepare them for careers in high tech fields. We offer a broad set of bachelor degree programs which are distributed across two departments - Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, and Engineering Technology. We also offer a Master’s program in Computer Engineering and Quality Engineering Management.

Our faculty care deeply about providing students with a practical education rooted in developing the knowledge and skills that will enable them to excel in their careers. Faculty engage the students in hands-on learning throughout the curriculum as well as in undergraduate research and industry project experiences. Through these activities, we nurture the student’s desire to learn, model professional behavior, and provide the academic rigor that will prepare them to be successful in their future endeavors. In addition, the University, as well as the School, offers a number of academic success resources, including peer mentoring, tutoring, the math clinic, and the science clinic, to help our students achieve their academic goals.

Furthermore, inherent to the Tarleton experience are the core values of “Integrity, Leadership, Tradition, Civility, Excellence, and Service”, which we instill in our students to help shape them into productive, creative, ethical, engaged citizens and leaders.

I am passionate about teaching, learning, and supporting opportunities for our students and faculty to grow personally and professionally. I am very proud of the quality of our programs and the growth we have had over the past five years. The synergism and teamwork within and between the departments in the School serve to enhance the experiences of our students. As Associate Dean, my role is to cultivate that synergy and help us continue our trajectory of growth and excellence, moving us forward in our vision of becoming a College of Engineering.

Do you want to be involved in the development and implementation of cutting-edge solutions that make the world a better place? Whether you are a high school student, a student at a 2-year institution, or a community member wanting to change or advance in your career, the School of Engineering has something for you. Mission Statement:

The mission of the School is to promote the growth of academically challenging programs and support collaborations and synergies within and across the disciplines within the School so as to increase Tarleton's capacity to meet the needs for highly skilled engineering and technology professionals in Texas and beyond. The academic environment in the school will inspire students to discover, design, and implement innovative solutions to real-world challenges and instill in them a sense of civility, ethics and community engagement; it will also nurture the growth of industry and research initiatives that will connect faculty across disciplines and result in vibrant scholarly profile for the School. As a result of these efforts, the School will become a viable, stand-alone College of Engineering in the foreseeable future.

In support of this mission, the goals of the School of Engineering are to 1) grow a broad slate of rigorous, engaging and relevant programs, 2) facilitate growth of research and industry initiatives and collaborations, 3) support scholarly collaborations within and between departments, and 4) promote the growth of active student chapters of professional organizations. In addition, programs in the School will seek and maintain national, professional accreditations where applicable.
