Tarleton Public Radio, part of the College of Liberal and Fine Arts at Tarleton State University, broadcasts community-supported public radio to the Cross Timbers region while offering hands-on training and work experience for students pursuing careers in broadcasting.
The station provides a unique mix of music, news, talk and local programming, including National Public Radio (NPR) programs such as Morning Edition and All Things Considered, alongside locally produced shows hosted by community talent. KTRL also serves as the official radio home of Tarleton Sports and reaches listeners across a 10-county area, connecting communities throughout North Central Texas.
Supporting this mission, Robert Shouse joined KTRL 90.5 Tarleton Public Radio as development director in January 2026, bringing with him a background in both higher education and sales.
Prior to this role, Shouse spent four years serving as an academic advisor in the Dr. Sam Pack College of Business at Tarleton State, where he worked closely with students and faculty. Before transitioning into academia, he built a long career in sales, including work in radio and newspaper advertising, as well as more than a decade as an insurance agent across Illinois, Minnesota and Texas.
In his current role at KTRL, Shouse oversees all fundraising and development initiatives, including underwriting sales throughout the surrounding communities. He is also responsible for planning and executing on-air fundraising drives, managing station membership and donor relations, and identifying grant opportunities while leading the grant application process.
Working in collaboration with the university’s development and dean’s offices, Shouse plays a key role in strengthening financial support and expanding opportunities for Tarleton Public Radio.
