Tarleton State Department of Visual Arts & Design Announces 28th Annual Rio Brazos Juried Art Exhibition

STEPHENVILLE, TX — The Department of Visual Arts & Design at Tarleton State University is thrilled to announce the 28th annual Rio Brazos Juried Art Exhibition, a premier showcase for contemporary artwork from artists across the nation. Running March 31 through April 27, the exhibition will be on display during the Granbury Wine Walk, bringing together art enthusiasts and community members for a dynamic celebration of creativity.

This year’s exhibition features renowned juror Kalee Appleton, an accomplished photography-based artist and associate professor of Art (Photography) at TCU in Fort Worth. Appleton brings national recognition and expertise to this year’s Rio Brazos exhibition. A Texas Tech University graduate with a B.F.A. in photography (2005), Appleton earned her M.F.A. in art from Texas Woman’s University (2014).

Her artistic practice explores digital technologies and their effects on society, examining the nature of the photographic medium itself. Her work has been featured in D Magazine, Glasstire, and Lens Culture, and is represented by Ivester Contemporary in Austin. Appleton has exhibited nationally at Filter Photo (Chicago), Fotofest (Houston), the Houston Center for Photography, and the Hilliard Museum of Art (Lafayette, Louisiana).
