About the Ceremony

The Ceremony

The Silver Taps Ceremony is held each spring to honor those faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends deceased during the previous year. This event is a cooperative undertaking of the Tarleton Ambassadors, Texan Corps of Cadets, Department of Military Science, and Tarleton Alumni Association. The roll call and candle lighting ceremony includes the reading of names, prayers, a processional, Taps and a 21 gun salute.

The Honor Roll

The Coordinator of the annual Silver Taps Ceremony and volunteers gather names for the honor roll on a weekly basis all year.  Several online search engines are utilized to find obituaries that mention Tarleton.  Public records are searched to find addresses when survivors are listed with their city of residence.  An invitation to the ceremony is mailed to families about one month prior to the ceremony.
