Your First Day
From day one, you’re part of the Texan family. We want you to feel welcomed, supported, and ready to begin your journey with us. Throughout your first day – starting with Human Resources and continuing with your new team – you will discover what it truly means to belong at Tarleton State and in your department.
Below we have outlined tasks and resources to help you settle in and succeed on your first day.

Morning
Start your first day with our Human Resources team. You’ll complete essential paperwork, learn about benefits and campus resources, and connect with the HR team who’s here to support you.

Afternoon
The afternoon will be spent connecting with your new team. You’ll meet your manager and colleagues, tour your department building, and get a feel for your workspace.
Morning – New Employee Orientation
A key part of your onboarding journey is attending New Employee Orientation. All employees are required to attend orientation prior to working in their new department. This session will introduce you to Tarleton State’s culture, benefits, and resources. Be sure to check your Welcome to Tarleton State email containing the date, time, and location of orientation.
I-9 Documents
You will need to bring your original I-9 documents to orientation for our Talent Acquisition team to make copies. Photos, copies, or scans are not accepted.
Texan Card
During orientation, you will have your picture taken for your Texan Card. Your Texan Card is the university’s identification card issued to faculty and staff. It is a photo ID with a magnetic stripe, and is used for a variety of things, such as building access, entry into on-campus events, and Texan Bucks (a store-value debit system for use on and off-campus).
Your first card is free. Replacements for lost, stolen, or damaged cards will result in a $10 replacement fee. Faculty and staff- you will pay in office. Your new Texan Card will void the previous card. We cannot reactivate old cards.
Afternoon – Meet with Your Team
Once orientation has completed, you will connect with your manager and team. They’re ready to welcome you, share insights about your new role, and answer any questions you have. This is a great opportunity to start building relationships and getting to know the people you’ll be working with.
