ID.me Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
ID.me is replacing the legacy TAMUS UIN login process, not your Tarleton State username and password.
What is Changing
Beginning November 1, 2026, the Texas A&M University System will discontinue the use of the SSO TAMUS UIN Login for pre-employees, retirees, and former employees.
Eligible users will instead authenticate through ID.me when accessing the Texas A&M System Single Sign On Portal (SSO).

Why is this Change Occuring
The Texas A&M University System is replacing UIN Logins with ID.me to:
- Improve cybersecurity
- Better protect personal information
- Reduce identity fraud risks

What HRSPs, Hiring Managers, and New Employees Need to Know
The transition to ID.me is a shared responsibility between Human Resources, hiring departments, and the employee. Following the process below will help ensure employees can access Workday and other Texas A&M System resources without delay.
Hiring Department Workflow
Before the Employee’s First Day
Hiring department should:
- Ensure request to hire is submitted timely.
- Ensure request has correct information
- Use the updated Student Application
- Encourage the employee to watch for onboarding communications.
- Refer questions regarding ID.me or SSO access to HR.
- Reinforce that identity verification may take some time and should be completed as soon as instructions are received.
Important Reminders for Hiring Managers
- ID.me is only needed if the employee must access SSO before becoming active. For our Tarleton State workforce this will primarily be student and GA employees.
- New hires should not attempt to create SSO access before HR confirms their record is ready.
- Active employees and new hires who have received NTNET credentials will use the Tarleton State tile rather than ID.me tile.
