WELCOME TO TARLETON STATE STOCK HORSE
The Tarleton State University Stock Horse Team was founded in 2007 as a student club organization. The team currently is a recognized Club Sport as well. The team began as a few riders who competed as individuals and has grown into a nationally competitive team. The team competes regularly in Stock Horse of Texas (SHTX) and National Intercollegiate Ranch & Stock Horse Association (NIRSHA), National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA), Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo (NWSS&R) collegiate competitions. The team competes in ranch horse competitions consisting of Ranch Pleasure, Ranch Trail, Ranch Reining and Working Cow Horse. Team members compete in the following divisions depending on eligibility; Non-Pro, Limited Non-Pro and Novice.
Mission Statement
The Tarleton Stock Horse Team mission is to provide students the opportunity to improve their horsemanship skills, horse training abilities, and showmanship through educational clinics, practice sessions, and participation in Stock Horse of Texas and Intercollegiate Stock Horse competitions. Outside of competitions, the Tarleton Stock Horse Team works to provide its members with important life skills, honoring the Tarleton Core Values which include integrity, leadership, tradition, civility, excellence, and service.
