The College has three departments: the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Engineering Technology, and the Department of Mechanical, Environmental, and Civil Engineering. More than 30 faculty members teach across our 13 bachelor’s degrees and 6 master’s degrees.

Tarleton was more than where I earned my degree; it’s where I found my purpose and learned to trust God’s plan, even when the path was uncertain. The Mayfield College of Engineering challenged me, believed in me, and shaped me into the engineer I am today. Becoming the first woman to earn a master’s in mechanical engineering here reminded me that through faith, perseverance, and hard work, you’re capable of far more than you ever imagined.

During my time at Tarleton State, the quality of the community and the commitment to education have remained consistent and reliable. Every professor emphasizes the importance of upholding the standards of an engineering degree. As students, we’re challenged to think critically, collaborate effectively, and approach problems with integrity and independence. This environment has helped me grow both technically and personally, preparing me to contribute meaningfully as an engineer.

The construction program at Tarleton has played a huge role in shaping who I am today. Through hands-on experience, supportive faculty, and real-world learning, I’ve gained the skills and confidence needed to pursue my future career in the construction industry. I’m leaving this program prepared and motivated to make a lasting impact in the field!

The Mayfield College of Engineering has mastered the balance of providing amazing opportunities to students while maintaining a genuine support structure with a small student-to-teacher ratio. To go from classes where all professors know you by name, to building a rocket or a plane as a 1st year student is rare, and MCOE provided the best of both worlds. The college is extremely student focused, and I always felt properly supported both in the classroom and outside of the classroom with team projects and meaningful research.
