
This award is designed to recognize and reinforce employee contributions to the University, College or Department by granting Administrative Leave for excellent performance. This program is permitted pursuant to TAMUS System Regulation 31.03.03 and Chapter 661.911 of the Texas Government Code.
Texan Performance Excellence Award
This award is designed to recognize and reinforce employee contributions to the University, College or Department by granting Administrative Leave for excellent performance. Our goal is to align recognition with the department, college, or university’s mission and values to create a positive work environment for employees, increase employee performance and engagement, and improve employee morale, through recognition of outstanding performance.
Eligibility
- This program is permitted pursuant to TAMUS System Regulation 31.03.03 and Chapter 661.911 of the Texas Government Code.
- This award is available to employees who have been employed in a leave eligible position with Tarleton for at least six consecutive months.
- The nominee must be in good standing with their department and the university as evidenced by a performance evaluation rating of Meets Expectations or higher.
- The nominee may not have received any formal disciplinary action or a performance improvement plan within the twelve months prior to the nomination date.
- The nominee may not receive more than 16 hours of Administrative Leave under this award program within the fiscal year (Sept. 1 – Aug. 31).
- Administrative Leave is not eligible for “cash out” upon termination of employment.
- Award must be used within 6 months of recognition.
- A nominee may not receive an Administrative Leave if they are receiving supplemental pay (additional pay).
- Self-nomination or nomination of a relative is not permitted.

Review Committee: Texan Performance Excellence Recognition Committee
Process for Nomination and Selection:
- Nomination may be made by any Tarleton employee.
- Complete the online form, giving specific examples of how the nominee has met or exceeded the above criteria, and keeping within the allotted word allowance (500-word limit), and click the submit button.
- The Texan Performance Excellence Recognition Committee will verify eligibility and HR will route the nomination to the direct Supervisor and the appropriate Dean, Vice President, Chief or President for approval. This process could take several weeks and you should keep your nomination private as not all awards are approved. Make it a surprise!
- Following all approval steps, an award notification email will be sent to the recipient, copying the nominator as well as the direct Supervisor.
