State of Texas Tuition Reimbursement Program (Tuition Assistance)

State Tuition Assistance is a program that pays up to a certain amount per semester hour for tuition and authorized fees. That amount is determined by the Texas National Guard. Please contact your Education Officer to find out about tuition assistance programs through your unit.

Non-Resident Tuition Waiver, Exemption, or Payment

Military Personnel & Dependents Non-Resident Tuition Exemption

Current members of the Armed Forces, veterans, and their spouses and children who meet certain eligibility requirements may receive the Military Personnel and Dependents Non-Resident Tuition Exemption. This Exemption exempts all non-resident tuition and is processed by Student Business Services. Additional information on this Exemption and the associated eligibility requirements can be found on the Student Business Services website under section labeled Military Personnel and Dependents. 

Texas Residency for Active Duty Service Members, Spouses, and Children

Active duty service members, and their spouses and children, may be able to be deemed a Texas Resident by the Office of the Registrar.


The Texas Veterans Commission

The Texas Veterans Commission was created in 1927 as the State Service Office to assist veterans of the Indian wars, Spanish-American War and World War I. Its purpose has always been to act as the state appointed advocate of Texas veterans as they attempt to secure the benefits rightfully earned in exchange for their service in our nation's armed forces. The Texas Veterans Commission also establishes the rules for Hazlewood eligibility which State institutions are required to use when confirming Hazlewood recipient eligibility. The Texas Veterans Portal is a resource for veterans, their families, and their survivors. It has compiled helpful information from many government agencies here so you can find the assistance, services, and benefits you need. For immediate assistance, call 2-1-1 or 1-800-252-VETS (8387).

Texas Veterans App

The Texas Veterans App is a mobile application designed to provide U.S. Military Veterans easy access to the Veterans Crisis Line, Hotline for Women Veterans, Connect with Texas Veterans, Texas Veterans Hotline, and the Texas Veterans Portal. It is available on the phone and Android Market.
