The Carnegie Classification serves as the premier framework for recognizing and understanding the varied landscape of higher education in the United States. Originally developed by the Carnegie on Higher Education in 1970, the classification was designed to support research and inform policy decisions. First published in 1973, this system is updated every three years to reflect the evolving nature of colleges and universities-including institutions like Tarleton State-highlighting our growth, mission, and impact in higher education.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
