What is Title IX?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities at federally funded institutions. Title IX protects students, faculty, staff, and visitors to our campus from all forms of sex discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sexual harassment, including sexual violence, is a form of sex discrimination and is prohibited under Title IX. Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal, and nonverbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when this conduct is so severe, persistent or pervasive that it affects an individual\u2019s employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual\u2019s work or educational performance, or creates an intimidating or hostile work or educational environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tarleton State Civil Rights & Title IX Coordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tarleton State University\u2019s Title IX Coordinator is responsible for oversight, leadership, and coordination for Civil Rights & Title IX compliance efforts regarding discrimination based on sex, sexual harassment (including sexual violence), discrimination based on a protected class, and related retaliation and for supporting a safe and respectful academic, working, and living environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
