As required by <a href=\"https:\/\/policies.tamus.edu\/29-01-04.pdf\">Texas A&amp;M University System (TAMUS) Regulation 29.01.04, Accessibility of Digital Resources<\/a>, Tarleton shall comply with applicable federal and state laws, which include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ada.gov\/law-and-regs\/regulations\/title-ii-2010-regulations\/\">Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/agencies\/oasam\/civil-rights-center\/statutes\/section-504-rehabilitation-act-of-1973\">Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.access-board.gov\/about\/law\/ra.html#section-508-federal-electronic-and-information-technology\">Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/LA\/htm\/LA.21.htm\">Texas Labor Code Chapter 21. Employment Discrimination<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/GV\/htm\/GV.2054.htm#2054.451\">Texas Government Code (Tex Gov&#8217;t Code) 2054, Subchapter M., Access to Electronic and Information Resources by<br>Individuals with Disabilities<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?chapter=206&amp;interface=VIEW_TAC&amp;part=10&amp;subchapter=C&amp;title=1\">1 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Ch. 206, Institution of Higher Education Websites<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?chapter=213&amp;interface=VIEW_TAC&amp;part=10&amp;title=1\">1 TAC Ch. 213, Accessibility Standards for Institutions of Higher Education<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group word-wrap: normal is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All web pages and web content\u00a0containing\u00a0official university information that\u00a0are\u00a0built,\u00a0updated\u00a0or revised after the effective date of this policy must\u00a0comply with\u00a0these standards.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tarleton information resources are strategic assets which, as property of the State of Texas, must be managed as valuable state resources in accordance with <a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/GV\/htm\/GV.2054.htm\">Texas Gov&#8217;t Code Chapter 2054<\/a>. This standard applies to electronic information created, sent, received, or stored on information resources owned, leased, administered, or otherwise under the custody and control of Tarleton.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The purpose of this standard is to\u00a0establish\u00a0minimum accessibility standards for official university web pages and content intended for the public. As a government agency, Tarleton recognizes that our information is\u00a0largely considered\u00a0to be in the public domain. The university is committed to making its official web pages and content accessible for all users.\u00a0\u00a0 In accordance with <a href=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?chapter=202&amp;interface=VIEW_TAC&amp;part=10&amp;title=1\">TAC Chapter 202 \u2010 Information Security Standards<\/a>, each department and\/or resource owner may elect not to implement some or all of the risk mitigation measures provided in this standard based on information security risk management decisions and business functions. Such risk management decisions must be documented and reported to the designated information security officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/accessibility\/\">Tarleton Digital Accessibility<\/a> webpage and\/or consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/weboperations\/\">Tarleton Web Operations team<\/a> for additional information and requirements.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Procedures and Responsibilities<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list its-nested-list\">\n<li>RESPONSIBILITIES\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The following responsibilities are&nbsp;pursuant to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?$locale=en_US&amp;interface=VIEW_TAC_SUMMARY&amp;queryAsDate=06%2F16%2F2026&amp;recordId=187750\">Title 1, Texas Administrative Code (TAC) \u00a7206.70<\/a>:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Web Accessibility Coordinator Responsibilities&nbsp;&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;a plan for achieving accessibility including metrics to measure progress in plan implementation;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor compliance in achieving accessibility through reports provided by automated 508 validation software;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide consultation and training on web accessibility standards,&nbsp;pursuant to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?recordId=228689&amp;queryAsDate=06%2F16%2F2026&amp;interface=VIEW_TAC_SUMMARY&amp;$locale=en_US\">Title 1, TAC \u00a7213.39<\/a>;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinate with the Tarleton Office of Innovative Technology Solutions (OITS) ITS Security Team and the Texas A&amp;M University System (TAMUS) Digital Accessibility Office (DAO) staff, or designee, in reviewing and recommending an exception for web accessibility. The president or designee shall approve or disapprove the exception request,&nbsp;pursuant to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?recordId=228687&amp;queryAsDate=06%2F16%2F2026&amp;interface=VIEW_TAC_SUMMARY&amp;$locale=en_US\">Title 1, TAC \u00a7213.37<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Web Site Owner Responsibilities&nbsp;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must be aware of accessibility&nbsp;standards, and&nbsp;be proactive in providing accessible web pages and content.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that all new or redesigned web pages\/content&nbsp;comply with&nbsp;the requirements of <a href=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?chapter=206&amp;interface=VIEW_TAC&amp;part=10&amp;subchapter=C&amp;title=1\">Title 1, TAC 206<\/a> and this standard, unless an exception is approved through the Exception Request Process,&nbsp;pursuant&nbsp;to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/GV\/htm\/GV.2054.htm\">Texas Gov&#8217;t Code \u00a72054.460<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HOMEPAGE REQUIREMENTS\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Tarleton homepage must include an \u201cAccessibility\u201d link, or a \u201cSite Policies\u201d link to a web page that contains the university\u2019s accessibility policy; site validation standard (i.e., \u00a7 508); contact information for the university\u2019s Web Accessibility Coordinator; and a link to the Governor\u2019s Committee on People with Disabilities Web site, pursuant to <a href=\"https:\/\/texas-sos.appianportalsgov.com\/rules-and-meetings?$locale=en_US&amp;interface=VIEW_TAC_SUMMARY&amp;queryAsDate=06%2F16%2F2026&amp;recordId=187750\">Title 1, TAC Rule \u00a7206.70<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For web accessibility, please consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/weboperations\/\">Tarleton Web Operations staff<\/a> for any additional assistance regarding web accessibility and Tarleton webpages\/social media post requirements and\/or the Web Accessibility Coordinator.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For digital accessibility requirements, please consult the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/accessibility\/\">TAMUS DAO team<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Definitions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>508 Validation Tool<\/strong>: A software application that can scan web pages and provide information to&nbsp;assist&nbsp;in&nbsp;determining&nbsp;if the web pages meet the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.access-board.gov\/about\/law\/ra.html#section-508-federal-electronic-and-information-technology\">Section 508 standards<\/a>.
