Mission Statement
Tarleton Educators for the Advancement of Mathematics (T.E.A.M.) strives to enhance mathematics education by providing educators, both pre-service and in-service, with a multitude of instructional resources for the classroom, at all academic levels.
Purpose Statement
Tarleton Educators for the Advancement of Mathematics (T.E.A.M.) was created to provide a necessary and vital resource for Tarleton State University’s pre-service teachers, of all academic levels. The student organization is not intended to be exclusive to mathematics education majors. Rather, T.E.A.M. believes that mathematics education at any level affects problem-solving and strategic abilities for the children-of-tomorrow. It is within this context that T.E.A.M. is to provide pre-service student educators with relevant seminars or other activities, which will yield personal and professional growth as well as appropriate instructional activities.
Just as the name indicates, T.E.A.M. believes that education is a cross-curricular, collaborative effort. As a result, T.E.A.M. is to also allow for the professional development of in-service educators by inviting area teachers to attend the various functions of the organization. Through these values, the organizational structure and activities are to be at a time and location conducive to needs of both pre-service and in-service teachers. Current professionals need the time to visit with enthusiastic, young educators while being afforded the opportunity to share pragmatic tools that capitulate the needs of new teachers. For these reasons, T.E.A.M. will offer professional development seminars during the course of Tarleton State University’s regular academic semesters (e. g. Fall and Spring semesters).
Within these statements, Tarleton Educators for the Advancement of Mathematics will afford all educators the opportunity for personal and professional progression, thereby influencing mathematics education of today and tomorrow – the ultimate function of being a T.E.A.M.
