The Tarleton State Passport Program<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re planning to study outside the U.S., you\u2019ll need a valid passport. Right now, new U.S. passport processing typically takes about 7\u201310 weeks, so it\u2019s important to plan ahead. Many countries also require a visa for study abroad, and you won\u2019t be able to apply for a visa until you have your passport in hand<\/strong>. If you\u2019re thinking about studying abroad next semester or in the future and don\u2019t have a passport yet, now is the time to apply<\/strong>. Passports are valid for 10 years, so it\u2019s a great long-term investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you already have a passport, make sure it will be valid for at least six months<\/strong> beyond the end date of your travel, as many countries require this. If it won\u2019t meet that requirement, you\u2019ll need to renew it before going abroad. Also, if your current passport was issued when you were under the age of 16, you\u2019ll need to renew<\/strong> it in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tarleton State Passport Program supports students in applying for their passport by offering informational sessions that guide you through the entire process. These sessions cover how to complete the application, how to prepare for your passport photo, and the costs associated with different passport types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First-generation college students who attend a Fall semester passport session may be eligible for financial assistance. Please note that passport costs are not guaranteed to be covered for all students.
