We commonly refer to Tarleton as a big family. Families look out for each other and are kind to one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are on campus or at a party, keep an eye out for things that seem concerning, like someone slipping something into a drink or someone who may be too drunk to provide consent. Don\u2019t be afraid to act. If you don\u2019t feel safe doing something directly, get help or cause a distraction. You don\u2019t have to cause a scene to keep a fellow Texan from getting hurt. In fact, it\u2019s better if you play it cool. Ask a random question, such as “do you have the time?”, or get your friends to help you check out the situation. You\u2019re smart enough to be in college; you\u2019re smart enough to come up with some clever ways to keep someone safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During your time in college, you may come across someone experiencing alcohol poisoning, which can be deadly. If you help someone receive medical attention for help you may be protected by medical amnesty, which means you are not punished for consuming or possessing alcohol as a minor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February, we celebrate \u201cRandom Acts of Kindness Week\u201d but kindness can be shown all year long. Open the door for someone else, pay for the car behind you at Starbucks or send a friend a motivational quote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\nLooking Out For Your Community – Be a Good Neighbor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Keep your Tarleton experience positive on and off-campus by living in a respectful manner within your community and neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is your home for four years, but it\u2019s also home to about 19,000 other residents who live here permanently. Do your part to respect the town of Stephenville and its residents by refraining from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Throwing beer cans out in your yard<\/li>
- Urinating on fences and in other public places (a bathroom can\u2019t be that far away)<\/li>
- Revving your truck at all hours of the night. It\u2019s the easiest way to spot freshmen in town.<\/li>
- Being loud late at night. Be mindful of the children, families, and grandparents that may be living around you.<\/li>
- Showing responsibility for your pets. Pick up after your fur child and don\u2019t let them run around the neighborhood.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

st importantly, look out for yourself! Stay healthy by knowing your limits when it comes to partying. Our most successful students strike a balance between social and academic life. They set reasonable limits when they do go out and take steps to make sure they (and their friends) stay safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We know that most students are going to go out and have fun, but there is a safe way to have a good time. Know your limits, never drive when you have been drinking or get in the car with someone who has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No matter how much you like your roommates, it’s smart to establish some guidelines related to the details of your living arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
