Honors Recital held

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton’s most accomplished student musicians performed on April 7 in the Honors Recital. Approximately 30 undergraduate students auditioned. Of those, 11 students advanced to a place on the 2014 Honors Recital program.

Honors Recital participants received one of the highest music scholarships that Tarleton has to offer, the Center Stage Scholarships. The music faculty selected the winners from each of the performance areas represented on the program. First-year student Ricardo Allen, Jr. (saxophone) won the instrumental division and senior Ashley Morrison won the vocal. 

Also presented during the ceremony Monday evening were the following awards:

 Outstanding Vocalist—Ashley Morrison
; Outstanding Freshman Vocalist – Katie Thompson; 
Most Improved Vocalist—Bradley McKinney

; Outstanding Instrumentalist—Tanner Jordan
; Outstanding Freshman Instrumentalist—Austen Whaley; 
Most Improved Instrumentalist—Matt Daigle

; Outstanding Jazz Musician—Ricardo Allen; Most Improved Jazz Musician—Corey Warthman

; Outstanding Pianist—Sophia Sands; 
Outstanding Accompanist—Emma Krahn; 

Outstanding Music Major—Sophia Sands; 
Outstanding Theory Student—Caitlin Rose
; Outstanding Music History Student—Stephen Braack
; Outstanding Freshman Theory Student—Austen Whaley

; Stephenville Music Club—Daniel Medrano
