STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Memorial services for two Tarleton students and a former student and his spouse who were killed in an auto accident Sunday will be held in the coming days.

On Wednesday, May 1, a public memorial ceremony in honor of Kimberly Genice Peacock and Courtney Smalley will be held at 4:30 p.m. in Heritage Park at the Hunewell Bandstand. Members of the Tarleton community are asked to wear bright colors, or pink and white, the official colors of the two students’ sorority, Phi Mu.

Those wishing to wear pink and white ribbons may pick these up from Greek Life on May 1, in the Center for Student Engagement, located in Suite 201 on the second floor of the Barry B. Thompson Student Center.

Visitation for Peacock, 19 of Fort Worth, will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Lacy Funeral Home in Stephenville with her funeral planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Cottonwood Baptist Church in Dublin.

Peacock, a sophomore who was studying animal science, was involved on campus as a member of Phi Mu Sorority.

Visitation for Smalley, 18 of Lipan, will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Lipan First Baptist Church. Funeral services have been planned for 2 p.m. Friday in the Lipan High School gymnasium.

Smalley was a freshman interdisciplinary studies major and also a member of the Phi Mu Sorority at Tarleton.

A memorial service for former Tarleton student Matthew Keith, 29, and his wife Audrey Keith, 26, both of Searcy, Ark., has been set for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Carlton Baptist Church.

“The Tarleton family is grieving the loss of two current students, along with a former student and his wife, killed in a tragic car accident Sunday,” university President F. Dominic Dottavio said. “Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about the tragic deaths of Courtney, Kimberly, Matthew and Audrey. The loss of ones so young and so filled with promise and vitality leaves a profound wound on all of us at Tarleton.”

“To all the friends and family of Courtney, Kimberly, Matthew and Audrey, we wish you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your thoughts,” Dottavio added. “Know that our hearts are heavy, and that you are forever in our thoughts and prayers.”

Arrangements are pending for an on-campus memorial service hosted by members of the Phi Mu Sorority sometime next week. The sorority is also making arrangements to establish a scholarship account to honor the memories of Smalley and Peacock.
