Flutist Laurel Zucker to perform recital

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—The Texas Flute Society and the Tarleton Flute Studio will present a masterclass and recital with virtuoso flutist Laurel Zucker on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Education Center, 308 E. Pearl Street, in Granbury.

With more than 49 CD releases on Cantilena Records, Zucker is recognized as one of the top flutists in the world. During the recital, she will be accompanied by Tarleton associate professor of piano, Dr. Leslie Spotz. The recital will feature works by African American composers as well as works composed by Zucker. The Tarleton Flute Studio under the direction of Ronda Winter-Eldridge will perform a new piece by Zucker titled “Andante for Flute Choir”.

A reception after the recital will feature a display of African American themed fabric art by Peggy DeLaVergne.

The masterclass will begin at 4 p.m. and the recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. The cost of the masterclass is $6 for general admission and free with a Tarleton ID. The cost of the recital is $10 for general admission and free with a Tarleton ID.
