Tarleton State University

Wednesday, November 6, 2013

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—What do hashtags and retweets have to do with Fort Worth? The Texas Social Media Research Institute will hold its third annual Social Media Conference on Friday, Nov. 8, at the Tarleton State University-Southwest Metroplex campus.

TSMRI is bringing together social media experts from across the nation to educate the public on the benefits of social media. Training and development sessions will inform participants on how to integrate social media into their businesses, education and personal lives. Research sessions will focus on emerging trends and phenomena in social media. Researchers from Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Oregon and Texas are scheduled to present. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and sessions begin at 9 a.m. For the entire list of presentations, visit txsocialmedia.org.

One unique aspect of TSMRI is that it is powered by undergraduate student interns. This semester 10 interns planned and will facilitate conference activities. Conference attendees can visit the interns in their conference office for one-on-one social media help all day.

Sponsors for this year’s conference include Go Picnic, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Southwest Dairy Farmers, Dannon, Texas Hill Country Wineries, Tarleton’s Student Success and Multicultural Initiatives office, and Tarleton’s Communication Studies Department.

Onsite registration begins Friday at 8 a.m. at the TSU Southwest Metroplex campus at 6777 Camp Bowie Blvd., Ste. 500. Onsite registration is $75 with check, cash or credit card.
