STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton’s Rodeo Hall of Fame will celebrate the induction of nine new members during its fourth annual steak dinner and auction Saturday, Nov. 2.

Inductees will include seven members from the 1967 men’s national championship rodeo team, including Billy Albin, Charles Bitters, Johnny Kirk Edmondson, Bobby Hungate, Lionel Lane, Randy Magers and Terry Walls, as well as former Tarleton rodeo coach and faculty advisor Carl Chumney, and longtime rodeo team supporter Dr. Ken Dorris.

The annual event, which benefits the rodeo program’s scholarship fund, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an auction preview and mixer at the Barry B. Thompson Student Center ballrooms, followed by the induction ceremony, dinner and a live auction.

This year’s silent and live auctions will include artwork, jewelry, tack, western wear and gift certificates, a 4x4 ATV, guided hunting trips and more. Proceeds from the auction benefit scholarships.

Admission to the event is $80 per couple. Tickets are available through 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, by contacting the Office of Rodeo Activities at 254-968-9490 or 254-968-9187.

Competing for the purple and white under the motto, “A Winning Tradition,” Tarleton’s rodeo teams have won six national championship titles, 21 individual national championships and numerous NIRA Southwest Region titles since the program was established in 1947.

In 2012-13, Tarleton boasted one of the largest collegiate rodeo teams in the nation with 112 card-holding student members.
