Performance Horse Sale

Tarleton State University

Thursday, May 16, 2013

STEPHENVILLE, Texas— The 13th annual Texan Performance Horse Sale will be held at 2 p.m. on May 25 at Tarleton’s Equine Center Arena. This year’s sale will offer 13 two-year-olds.

For the past 12 years, Tarleton’s equine science program has been selling horses from the training classes. These geldings and fillies either have been raised at the equine center by students at the university or donated to the program.

“After going through extensive groundwork training during the fall semester, these colts were started under saddle by the Tarleton students in early January. By the sale date they will have about 60-plus rides on them,” said Daniel Weber, equine instructor. “Across the board this is the best set of two-year-olds we have ever had.”

Proceeds from the performance horse sale support the costs associated with the equine program at Tarleton. Horse demonstrations begin at 10 a.m. with the sale following at 2 p.m.
