STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Representatives from TexasBank surprised Tarleton President F. Dominic Dottavio recently by recognizing his fifth year of service to the university with the presentation of a donation towards scholarships.

TexasBank announced on Wednesday that $25,000 in scholarships is being given to Tarleton through the Doss Foundation. The presentation was made in conjunction with the university’s annual Employee Service Awards.

“TexasBank is proud to be affiliated with such a significant investment in furthering the education of the youth in the markets in which we serve,” said Greg Dodds, president and CEO of TexasBank. “Commitment to the education of our future leaders is of great importance to our board and ownership as evidenced in the nearly $350,000 given by the Doss Foundation over the past six years.”

The funds will be applied to scholarships that will be awarded starting in fall 2013 and will provide eligible students with $1,000 each semester for a total of $2,000 in aid each year. The scholarships will be need-based and given to deserving students.

“Tarleton is enormously grateful to TexasBank for their generous gift to support scholarships,” said Dr. F. Dominic Dottavio, Tarleton's president. “The fact that the scholarships will be awarded based on need is highly significant. TexasBank is making an investment that will transform lives and, ultimately, the life of the region and state.”

To be eligible, students must be a full-time student from Brown, Comanche or Erath counties.
