Art exhibit to feature senior students' works

Senior Art Show

Tarleton State University

Thursday, April 18, 2013

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Eight students graduating with bachelor in fine art degrees this May will showcase their work in senior exhibits beginning April 15, and continuing through May 8 at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Gallery. The art exhibits are free and open to the public.

Because of the number of graduates, there will be a rotation of four shows in the gallery during that time. This is an opportunity for the artists to mount a professional exhibition of a complete body of work that showcases a cohesive portfolio in the field of study the student intends to focus on upon graduation.

The first show, from April 15-18, will feature students Ashley Ayers (photography) and Kim Kutch (photography and mixed media). The second exhibition runs April 19-24 and will feature Melissa Crosby and Bailey Drake (both digital illustration). The third exhibit, April 25-30, will feature two graphic designers, Luis Cifuentes and Lewis Straughter, along with Amanda Debusk (photography and painting). And the last exhibit will feature the work of Tyler Seigrist (painting) and will be on display from May 1-8.

Senior advisor and art professor Chris Ireland said, “The art department is proud of its growth and it can not be reflected better than to see the amount of talented graduates we have this spring. The seniors have worked very hard in getting their work ready for these exhibitions, and I think you will see in each senior a signature style and creative approach to their craft.”
