STEPHENVILLE, Texas—More than 50 high school FFA members from across Texas are expected to attend the first-ever FFA Officer Preparation Course hosted by Tarleton’s Collegiate FFA Chapter and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

The one-day workshop, slated for Tuesday, Feb. 26, is specifically designed for FFA members who are interested in vying for chapter, district, area and state office within the organization. Tarleton is offering the officer preparation course free-of-charge.

Tarleton faculty, including Dr. David Frazer and Dr. Rudy Tarpley, along with collegiate FFA members will facilitate the workshop and critique participants’ campaign speeches and officer interview techniques.

“The collegiate members participating in this course have held offices at all levels of the FFA organization,” said Frazier, assistant professor of agricultural education and consumer sciences. “Among the facilitators is last year’s national FFA president Ryan Best, who is now studying agricultural education at Tarleton. They know what it takes to have that special edge and will listen to the candidates’ speeches and give immediate feedback and discuss how they can improve the speech.”
