Political scientists to discuss 2012 elections

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Two distinguished political scientists will discuss “American Elections and the Future of American Politics” at a post-election seminar Nov. 8, from 2-4 p.m. in the Barry B. Thompson Student Center.

Rice University professor Dr. Mark Jones and Dr. Jeffrey Tulis, associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin, will interpret and discuss the consequences of the 2012 election.

Jones, chairman of the Department of Political Science at Rice, focuses his research on the effect of electoral laws and other political institutions on governance, representation and voting.

Tulis has written broadly on political theory and American politics, American political development, constitutional theory, political philosophy and the American presidency.

Dr. Malcolm Cross, professor of political science, and Dr. Richard Cruz, associate professor of history, will serve as moderator and commentator respectively.

The seminar is being hosted by Tarleton’s Dr. Jesús Velasco, holder of the Joe and Teresa Long Endowed Chair in Social Sciences.

The seminar is open to the public.
