STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Dr. Marilyn Robitaille, director of Tarleton State University’s Office of International Programs and Study Abroad, spoke at the 64th annual NAFSA Conference and Expo in Houston, May 27-June 1.

Robitaille joined nearly 9,000 international education professionals from around the globe as part of the Association of International Educators (NAFSA) conference. She gave a presentation on behalf of Study Texas, a U.S. Department of Commerce-sponsored consortium of more than 30 public and private institutions that promotes the Lone Star State to international students.

Invited to speak by NAFSA’s British Council, Robitaille gave a presentation on the topic of higher education in Texas to representatives from more than 80 British universities. She currently serves as chairwoman of the board of directors for Study Texas.

“It was an honor to be invited to speak at the British Council meeting. As a direct result of meeting British university representatives at the event, we’re working on details for an impending agreement,” said Robitaille. “Tarleton students will be able to participate in a semester exchange program for affordable study in the United Kingdom.”

Robitaille, also a professor in the Department of English and Languages, works with Tarleton students and faculty to facilitate study abroad program planning, orientation, curriculum internationalization, funding and scholarship issues, and risk management. On behalf of the Tarleton faculty and administration, she initiates agreements with foreign universities and international exchanges. She administers all phases of programs associated with Tarleton’s international student population, including recruitment, immigration and visa services, and cultural and academic programming.

Robitaille earned a master of arts from Middlebury College and her doctorate from Texas Woman’s University. She serves as an ex-officio member of Tarleton’s International Programs Advisory Council and as co-editor of Tarleton’s literary journal, The Langdon Review of the Arts in Texas.
