Tarleton opens fall 2020 orientation, registration for freshmen

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday, April 20, 2020

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State University is allowing all incoming freshmen to register for classes and conduct orientation in a virtual format. Students can contact an adviser to register for fall 2020 classes starting Monday, April 27.

Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, all first-time freshmen had to attend a Texan Orientation where they registered for classes, became acquainted with the university, its history and traditions, and met faculty and staff. This experience will now be provided virtually.

Beginning this week, Tarleton will contact all admitted freshmen who have already signed up for an in-person orientation to schedule appointments with academic advisers and share more about online orientation. All pre-paid orientation fees will be refunded.

Students who have not signed up for Texan Orientation can register using the link provided in the email address on their Apply Texas application.

“We are deeply committed to meeting the needs of our students, even more so during these uncertain times,” said Tarleton President James L. Hurley. “Shifting our fall class registration processes will help them enroll in the classes and create the schedules they desire to ensure their academic success.

“As we prepare for in-person activities on our campuses to safely resume, currently we’re doing everything possible to help our students maintain their planned paths of learning, curricula and critical engagement.”
