Funeral arrangements set for student killed in Labor Day accident

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Funeral services for Tarleton State University student Sade Lowery, who was killed in a tragic vehicle accident on Labor Day have been set for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lincoln Funeral Home in Dallas. A wake for Sade Lowery will be held from 7-8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, at Lincoln Funeral Home, located at 8100 Fireside Dr. in Dallas. Her funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Good Street Baptist Church, 3110 Bonnie View Rd. in Dallas.

Sade Lowery, a sophomore music major from Frisco, Texas, lost her life the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 1, along US Hwy. 281, several miles north of Stephenville. She was reportedly returning to campus after visiting family and friends for the extended Labor Day weekend.

“The Tarleton family laments the loss of one of our students, Sade Lowery, who was a talented member of our music program and performer in our Wind Ensemble,” said President F. Dominic Dottavio. “Our hearts and our prayers go out to her family and friends. Her loss deeply affects all of us at Tarleton.”

Sade Lowery was a member of the Tarleton Wind Ensemble, the university’s premier wind band, and participated in the ensemble’s April 2014 concert at New York City’s renowned Carnegie Hall. An involved student within the Department of Fine Arts and a member of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Service Sorority, Sade Lowery was an accomplished musician who played flute.
