Communication studies to host 9th annual film festival

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton students produce, film, and act in shorts that will be featured at the 9th Annual Student Film Festival on Thursday, April 24, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the O.A. Grant building, room 118. The Department of Communication Studies is hosting the event at no cost to the viewers.

Fifteen student films in various genres such as narrative, animation and documentary styles will be screened. The films are “Gone,” by Josh Duran, a thriller; “In a Dream,” by Christine Pritchett, animated film; “The Hunger Games,” by Rebecca Gabbert, animated film; “TSU Homecoming,” by Dawn Skinner, a documentary; and “Darkness,” by Autumn Owens, a zombie film.

Students in the foreign honors film class will act as judges for the event, awarding one film best of fest. Winning films in the past have covered all genres such as horror, romance and documentary.

Dr. Robert Anderson, the film students’ adviser, said, “This is a particularly strong year, with several films in contention.”
