Nemecek selected as new dean of College of Business Administration

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Following a national search, experienced scholar and administrator Dr. Barbara Nemecek has been named the new dean of Tarleton State University’s College of Business Administration. Her appointment is effective Aug. 4, 2014, pending Texas A&M University System board of regents' approval.

Nemecek, who has held senior academic positions for more than a decade and served as dean at four institutions, most recently served as interim dean at Adelphi University’s Robert B. Willumstad School of Business in Garden City, NY. She previously served as dean at Midwestern State University’s Dillard College of Business Administration, was the founding dean of University of Wisconsin – River Falls’ College of Business and Economics, and was dean and professor of marketing at Montana State University – Billings’ College of Business.

She has also held faculty appointments at the University of Nebraska at Kearney as associate professor and chair of the department of management, and served as master’s coordinator and was director of career planning, placement and cooperative education at the University of Minnesota.

In addition to her college administrative and teaching roles, Nemecek served for four years on the board of directors of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), and has served in leadership positions in multiple professional organizations, regional business councils, and has substantial private business experience.

“I am pleased to announce that Dr. Barbara Nemecek will be joining us as dean for the College of Business Administration,” said Dr. Karen Murray, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. “I am certain that the College of Business Administration will benefit from her breadth of experiences, and she will be extremely valuable as we move our business programs toward AACSB accreditation.”

Nemecek earned her Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Minnesota, and both a master of science in clothing and textiles and a bachelor of science in general home economics from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.
