FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thursday, February 27, 2014

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—The Brock McGuire Band, an award-winning traditional Irish group, will make a stop at Tarleton at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, in the Theater of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center.

The band, from County Clare, is fronted by two of Ireland’s most celebrated traditional musicians: button accordionist and melodeonist Paul Brock and fiddler Manus McGuire, and also features Garry O’Meara on banjo, mandolin and vocals, and acclaimed pianist, composer and arranger Denis Carey.

While steeped in the Irish musical tradition, the band incorporates elements from American bluegrass, French-Canadian tunes and other Celtic traditions. Their latest album, Green Grass Blue Grass, is a collaboration with 14-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs and was hailed as “a masterpiece” by American music critic Bill Margeson.

The event is open to the public. Adult admission is $10 at the door; children and students are free. For more information, contact Dayle Cox at dcox@tarleton.edu, or 254-968-9291.
