STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved musical, The Sound of Music, will be presented Feb. 26-March 1 at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center auditorium. The musical is a production of the Department of Fine Arts and Theatre at Tarleton.

Based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers,” the play tells the tale of a woman who leaves a convent in Austria to serve as governess to a widowed Naval officer’s seven unruly children. The 1965 film version, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

The musical will be directed by Prudence Wehnert-Skinner, associate professor of fine arts.

Show times are at 7:30 p.m. each night. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, students, faculty and staff, or $5 for Tarleton students with a valid ID. Tickets are now on sale in the Fine Arts Center box office from 2-6 p.m. and one hour prior to show time.
