Davidian named associate editor of music journal

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Dr. Teresa Davidian, associate professor of music and head of the Department of Fine Arts, has been named associate editor of Analytical Approaches to World Music

, a new international journal in the field of world music.

At Tarleton, Davidian has taught a wide variety of courses, including an undergraduate course in world music and an online graduate course in ethnomusicology. Her latest research focuses on the reception history of French composer Claude Debussy’s music in Japan during the interwar period of the 1930s.

She holds a Ph.D. degree in music theory and musicology from the University of Chicago, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Columbia University.

The new journal publishes scholarly work from around the world and is focused on the analytical, theoretical and cultural aspects of the world music traditions. Davidian joins an international editorial team from countries including China, France, England, New Zealand, Canada and the U.S. More information on the new publication can be found at
