STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton’s College of Business Administration celebrated the completion of its recent facelift today during a grand re-opening ceremony attended by students, faculty and staff, and distinguished guests.

The event included a ribbon cutting to mark the opening of a new student lounge located on the second floor and a ceremonial ringing of the bell by university President F. Dominic Dottavio, signaling the flipping of the switch to turn on a newly installed LED stock market and financial data ticker tape.

Tarleton’s Business Building, home of the College of Business Administration, underwent $500,000 in renovations, which were completed in mid-January. Since its construction in 1985, the facility had not undergone any major renovations until recently.

Dr. Adolfo Benavides, dean of the college, welcomed guests to the ceremony and thanked those who were instrumental in overseeing the renovations—from the students, faculty and staff who provided input for color schemes, to the university’s administration and A&M System, who were instrumental in securing Permanent University Fund monies granted to Tarleton, which funded the project.

New paint was applied throughout the building, along with carpeting in all classrooms and offices. The facelift also included the addition of ceramic tile in the building’s entrances, restrooms and stairwells, and wood laminate was added to replace the vinyl tile flooring near the main entrance.

Most noticeable among the renovations is the large LED ribbon, which displays the latest financial data and stock market news in the building’s foyer. In addition, a touch-screen display near the entrance allows visitors and students to view the college’s faculty directory and other information relating to the college’s student organizations and upcoming events.
