STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton State University and SSC Service Solutions, a subsidiary of Compass Group North America, have signed an agreement calling for SSC to manage facility support services, including building maintenance, landscape maintenance and custodial services, effective March 28.

“This is a good contract,” said Tye Minckler, vice president for finance and administration. “While we could wish that we didn’t have to make any changes, our world is not standing still, and we need to move forward to keep up. And to move forward with SSC is a wonderful opportunity to align Tarleton with a premier service provider who will bring best practices and additional resources to our campus.”

In February, John Sharp, chancellor of The Texas A&M University System, announced that all universities and entities in the System would outsource building maintenance, landscape maintenance and custodial services to SSC. Over the 12-year term of the agreement, A&M System members are expected to see an estimated $92.3 million in cost-savings.

Tarleton is expected to save nearly $11.7 million over the 12-year term.

Under the terms of  the contract, all affected Tarleton employees became employees of SSC and received raises to compensate for any lost benefits.
