Choirs to present 'Sing, Dream, Dance' in first concert of semester

STEPHENVILLE, Texas—Tarleton’s choirs, under the direction of the university’s new director of choirs Dr. Troy Robertson, will present their first concert of the fall 2012 semester at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center theater.

The concert titled, “Sing, Dream, Dance—The Choirs of Tarleton State University,” will include the University Singers, Select Women’s Ensemble and the Tarleton Chamber Choir and will feature a wide array of music featuring the talents of several guest musicians including pianist Steve Chambers will accompany the vocalists.

The eclectic mix of selections for this concert will include music of the Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic and Contemporary periods, as well as jazz, Afro-fusion and spiritual. The Chamber Choir will also premier A Dream Within a Dream, a new work by Jeffrey Benson.

Admission is $5 for adults or free with a valid Tarleton ID. Tickets will go on sale at the Fine Arts Center Box Office one hour before the concert.
