Building Emergency Coordinator Program

The Building Emergency Coordinator program has been established to provide trained individuals within each major academic building to respond to and take initial actions at emergency events. This team’s basic mandate is to bridge the gap between the occurrence of an emergency and the arrival of professional responders.

Their training will cover response to things such as: medical emergencies, severe weather events, response to fire alarms and actual fires, etc. Each coordinator has been assigned an emergency response bag that contains various items to support their activities.  Coordinators are currently located in each of our academic buildings with most buildings having several. In total, there are 20 coordinators across the campus and soon the program will be expanded into the administrative and residential areas as well.
