However, <strong>\u201cResearch Misconduct,\u201d as defined by federal regulations, specifically refers to<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Fabrication:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>Making up data or results and recording or reporting them<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Falsification<em>:<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0Manipulating research materials, equipment, or processes, or changing or omitting data or results, such that the research is not accurately represented in the research record<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Plagiarism:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>The appropriation of another person\u2019s ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Questionable Research Practices<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concerns or disputes that do not rise to the level of research misconduct should be addressed and resolved within the appropriate research group, division, or department. When the concern(s) and\/or allegation(s) are expressed in good faith, reasonable steps are taken to protect against retaliation directed toward the position and reputation of the individual reporting research misconduct. The individual(s) responding to alleged misconduct are also treated with fairness and respect, and reasonable steps are taken to ensure that procedural safeguards listed in system regulations and in university rules and SAPs are followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Page content<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-texan-white-color has-tarleton-purple-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-865bf704d4de7f010951e1539490a5a9\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/67\/2026\/04\/Research-Misconduct-Allegation-Intake-Form-Fillable-Form.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"8453\">Research Misconduct Allegation Intake Form <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This form is used to confidentially report concerns or allegations related to potential research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism (See Section 3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All fields are optional, and this form is designed to help guide the reporter in making a sufficiently detailed complaint (allegation).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information provided will be kept confidential under Tarleton\u2019s Research Misconduct Policy and Procedures (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/policy\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/142\/2022\/06\/15_99_03_T1.pdf\">15.99.03.T1 Research Misconduct<\/a>) and applicable laws.
