Any course dropped on or<\/strong> before<\/strong> census is removed from the student’s current semester hours as are the tuition and fees associated with that course. Any course dropped after<\/strong> census is recorded as a Q drop on the student’s transcript. See below for instructions on how to drop a course. Dropping a course is not the same as a withdrawal. For information on withdrawals (dropping to zero credit hours for the semester) see withdrawal information page<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Drop Classes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students may drop an individual course in Ducktrax under Add or Drop Classes<\/strong>. After the add or drop period has ended, students wishing to drop a course(s) will complete a Course Drop<\/strong> in Ducktrax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Add or Drop Classes <\/h3><\/div>

Students will add or drop classes in Ducktrax during the following registration periods using the Add or Drop Classes option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fall\/Spring 16 week parts of term<\/strong> – first week of the semester <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1st and 2nd 8 week parts of term<\/strong> – first two class days<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer parts of term<\/strong> – first two class days for each part of term<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 1:<\/strong> Log into MyGateway<\/a> with your school credentials<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 2:<\/strong> Select New Ducktrax Menu or select Add or Drop Classes under Registration Tools<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 3: <\/strong>Select the current term. To drop a course on your schedule you will click the drop down box under Action column, select “drop\/web” option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 4: <\/strong>To complete your drop you will need to click on the \u201cSubmit Changes\u201d bottom at the bottom of the screen<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 5:<\/strong> Once you\u2019ve submitted the changes the screen will refresh. You will know the course has been dropped if it\u2019s no longer showing up under the \u201cStudent Schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Course Drop – Use AFTER late add\/drop<\/h4><\/div>

After the late Add\/Drop period has ended, students will use the Course Drop<\/strong> – Use after late add\/drop<\/strong> option in Ducktrax under Registration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 1<\/strong>: Log into your MyGateway<\/a> with your school credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 2: <\/strong>Select New Ducktax Menu<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 3: <\/strong>Under Registration select Course Drop – Use after late add\/drop<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 4: <\/strong>On the Course Drop Request Form select term to drop courses<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 5:<\/strong> Choose Display Courses available to drop <\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 6:<\/strong> Check the box beside the course you want to drop<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 7:<\/strong> Choose Display Review Page<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STEP 8:<\/strong> Select checkbox to agree to the terms<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 9: <\/strong>Submit<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Course Drop<\/strong> form has been submitted, the student will receive a confirmation email from workflow@tarleton.edu that the request was received. The request will then be reviewed by the student’s academic advisor in addition to any other necessary departments (ex. Veteran’s Affairs, Athletics, Honors, TSI, etc.). If approved, the request will then be received and processed by the Registrar’s Office. The student will then receive another email notifying them of the completed status. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Registration Override <\/h4><\/div>

After the late Add\/Drop period has ended, students wishing to add a course(s) will need to complete a Registration Override form<\/a>. The override form will be accepted up through census and must contain all required signatures.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Things to Consider Before Dropping a Course<\/h4><\/div>

Dropping a course may impact financial aid, scholarships, eligibility as a dependent for insurance coverage, veteran’s benefits, athletic eligibility, scholastic probation, eligibility for extracurricular activities and some type of employment, etc. It is important to talk to a representative in these areas as applicable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
