Rural Communication Week each year on the Tarleton State University campus and through virtual sessions on Facebook Live. The Rural Communication Institute (#ThinkRuralComm) is focused on helping people live, learn, and thrive in rural areas of Texas, the United States, and beyond<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rural Communication Institute (#ThinkRuralComm) is focused on helping people live, learn, and thrive in rural areas of Texas, the United States, and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Receive a Certificate – Community Members, Students, Faculty, and Staff are Invited to participate in the events below! You can also receive a Rural Communication Summit Certificate of Participation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The institute is seeking engaging presentations about the following rural topics: <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAdvancing Educational Opportunities with Internet Access and Partnerships\u201d sessions will focus on: preschool, K-12, community college, universities, and military. \u201cModernizing Healthcare Access\u201d sessions will focus on: health clinics\/dental clinics, telemedicine, veterans, nursing homes\/assisted living, and hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Homeownership, reducing homelessness, rural renting, rural lending are \u201cInnovative Options for Rural Housing\u201d topics. \u201cImproving Rural Transportation Options\u201d will include: rural transit, fatality rates on rural roads, access to job sites, and access to healthcare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cModernizing Rural Utilities\u201d sessions will include: rural electric power systems, rural water systems, rural waste systems, high speed internet. Finally, \u201cCommunity Resiliency Planning\u201d will include sessions focused on rural money management, rural jobs of the future, rural internships and apprenticeship, and agricultural development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Anyone who is interested in presenting, should complete a\u00a0Rural Communication Proposal form.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Monday and Tuesday events will focus on rural communication research from the Communication Studies graduate students and other invited guests. The presentations will take place on the\u00a0Rural Communication<\/a>\u00a0Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Rural Communication Summit will be held on Wednesday, November 20th in the Dick Smith Library Multipurpose Room. Wednesday will also serve as the official launch date for the Rural Communication hotline from 3:00pm to 4:00pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday\u2019s event will include the\u00a0#ThinkRuralComm\u00a0<\/a>Twitter chat at 8:30pm. Participants should search for the hashtag on Twitter and follow @ThinkRuralComm to see the tweets.
