Tarleton State University has scored all-time-high enrollment yet again. Based on 12th class day numbers, the university begins fall 2023 up 8.6 percent from a year ago, serving 16,230 students and outpacing many institutions nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This latest momentum started four years ago and shows no signs of slowing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Class of 2027 is the largest ever \u2014 up almost 11 percent from fall 2022 \u2014 with 2,707 enrolled. It\u2019s the most well-prepared group of incoming students in 124 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of students signed up for master\u2019s programs surpasses 2,000, setting a record. More than 600 of those are new students, representing an almost 23 percent increase from last year. Online campus enrollment is up 10.6 percent, another first, topping 1,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese enrollment numbers reflect the transformative work that takes place at Tarleton State,\u201d said President James Hurley. \u201cOur outstanding faculty and dedicated staff are committed to ensuring that once here, every<\/em> student has the support to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to myriad student success initiatives, Dr. Hurley attributes the university\u2019s growing enrollment to market-responsive degree options, life-changing research opportunities, amplified financial support and a rising reputation as one of the country\u2019s top comprehensive public universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re providing access and opportunity for students who otherwise might not have the chance to earn a university degree,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re strengthening workforce development and serving the needs of our region and state by equipping students with the education they need to be career ready from the moment they graduate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, more than 1,550 high school students are participating in the university\u2019s new dual enrollment program. Launched just this fall, Tarleton Today enables students to earn university credit in agricultural and STEM areas while completing graduation requirements at Texas high schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tarleton State students represent 235 Texas counties. More than half, 54 percent, are the first in their family to attend college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fall 2023 enrollment of Hispanic students nears 23 percent, bringing Tarleton closer to its goal of recognition as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
