Board of Regents Meeting Update

In an effort to keep you up to date on actions taken by The Texas A&M System Board of Regents that pertain to Tarleton, here’s a recap of the meeting that concluded today (Wednesday).

Mission Statement:

The board approved our amended Mission Statement and gave authorization to request approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.  The amended statement reflects all six of Tarleton’s core values by adding Civility and Integrity to the four values of Leadership, Tradition, Excellence, and Service that were already included within it.

Appointment of New Deans:

Congratulations are extended to three new deans at Tarleton.  The board approved the appointment of Dr. Barbara Nemecek as the Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Jordan Barkley as the Dean of the College of Education, and Dr. Barry Lambert as the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies.

Faculty and Staff:

Tenure was granted by the board to Dr. Jordan Barkley, Professor in Curriculum and Instruction, and to Dr. Alejandro del Carmen, Professor in Criminal Justice.  While new to Tarleton, both have several years of experience at other universities.  Additionally, Vivian Tamez was appointed and commissioned as a Campus Peace Officer by the board.

As president, I want to thank all of you for your efforts to enhance the success of our students.

F. Dominic Dottavio, Ph.D.
