If you are serious about a career as a health professional, you should become knowledgeable in all health-related current events and issues, compile your own research, meet with your advisors regularly, and know what sets you apart from other applicants when applying to Health Professions schools.

Begin preparing for your first semester, whether it be as a freshman, returning, or transfer student at Tarleton. Get started in the right direction by staying on track. Your first semester is the beginning of your pre-professional career, and it should not be taken lightly. Acceptance into a Health Professions school is extremely competitive, and our advisors are here to help you prepare and guide you every step of the way.

Program Guidelines

Students should adhere to the following guidelines in order to be successful in the Pre-Health program:

  • Focus and keep a high GPA. Grades matter.
  • Enroll in at least 15+ hours each semester.
  • Stay on track with coursework. Sequencing is key.
  • Take at least two lab science courses each semester.
  • Get involved in curricular and co-curricular experiences.
  • Ask questions about health careers; talk to your professors, mentors, and other professionals.
  • Thoroughly explore the healthcare profession and make sure it is the right fit for you.
