Complex Numbers

Complex numbers are used throughout physics courses from graduate to high school level both to ease the difficulty in solving problems involving trigonometry and because the solutions to solve algebraic problems are complex numbers. This Module assumes that the student is either taking or has completed a course where complex numbers have been covered in either Algebra II (College Algebra) or PreCalculus. Thus, the materials in this Module is meant primarily as a review of the most important concepts of complex numbers that are used to solve physics problems. Additional review material can be found on the web or in the references cited on this website.
