New Students

Transition Week begins with Move-In and continues through the first day of class. Transition Week is intended to help students with a successful transition into the academic and campus community here at Tarleton. This week is mandatory for all first year students.

During Transition Week, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Move in to their residence hall
  • Start their First Year Experience course
  • Meet instructors and learn more about their major
  • Be introduced to Tarleton traditions and pride
  • Make connections with classmates
  • Become officially inducted into the Tarleton family

Move-In

Commuter Students

You may not live on campus, but this week will prove invaluable in helping you get acclimated to the campus culture at Tarleton. You will network with your fellow classmates, faculty and staff, make lifelong friendships, discover the tools for academic achievement, and get plugged in to Tarleton organizations! It is mandatory for all first time students (residential and commuter) to attend Transition Week.

Commuter students will check-in for Transition Week on August 20th in the TSC Ballrooms at 7:30pm.

 

Transfer Students

You may have not started your college career at Tarleton, but Transition Week can help you get acclimated to campus life, connect you with new and current students, and experience what it means to Bleed Purple! Transfer students with less than 12 hours are required to attend Transition Week (regardless of how many dual-credit hours you have).

 

Move-In

Only those transfer students participating in Transition Week are permitted to move in early. Reporting times and locations for transfer students participating in Transition Week are as followed: 

Wednesday, August 22

9:00 A.M - 2:00 P.M.

  • All residence halls

Transfer students will check-in for Transition Week on August 22nd in the TSC Ballrooms at 4:00pm.

Outcomes

As a result of participating in Texan Transition Week, new students will:

understand academic expectations.

  • construct connections with peers, current students, faculty, and staff.
  • establish a community identity.
  • demonstrate greater self-efficacy.
  • articulate the Tarleton State University culture and the institution’s core values.
  • navigate University processes.

Program Outcomes for Texan Transition Week:

  • Texan Transition Week provides new students with academic expectations through programs and services.
  • Texan Transition Week provides programs and services which expose and engage new students with their classmates, current students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Texan Transition Week provides new students skills and opportunities by which they build a community identity through programs and services.
  • Texan Transition Week provides the opportunity to new students, to grow in self-efficacy through engaging in programs and services.
  • Texan Transition Week programs and services immerse new students in the Tarleton State University culture and the institution’s core values.
  • Texan Transition Week exposes new students to University processes and facilitates opportunities for navigating those processes.
