Duck Camp... We Love It!

Duck Camp is a 3-day, 2-night experience for incoming freshmen that is designed to ease the transition from high school into college. At Duck Camp, students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Tarleton's rich history and traditions while bonding with fellow incoming and current students.

Texan Camp

Transferring in? Get connected with other transfer students at Texan Camp! Texan Camp is a component of Duck Camp that is designed specifically for transfer students. Students who attend Texan Camp receive the same exciting experience that Duck Camp has to offer, but with a unique transfer twist.

Duck Camp and Texan Camp Activities Include:

  • Tarleton Tradition Sessions
  • Water Activities

Make A Donation

Duck Camp provides students with the opportunity to make an easier transition from high school to college by meeting new friends, learning the heritage and traditions of Tarleton, all while having lots of fun during the summer prior to their freshman year. Gifts help defray the cost of three days and two nights at camp, meals, an official Duck Camp T-shirt, chartered bus service to and from camp, as well as some other special treats.

Duck Camp Dates


Students will meet on the Tarleton campus for check-in and then will be transported off-campus via charter bus to a nearby retreat center.

How Much Does it Cost?

The cost for camp is $150 per camper. This price includes three days and two nights at camp, meals, an official 2018 Camp t-shirt, chartered bus service to and from camp, as well as other special mementos.

As a result of attending Duck Camp, new students will:

  • connect with peers, student leaders, faculty, and staff
  • create a community identity through team building initiatives
  • develop a social and emotional connection to Tarleton State University
  • formulate a greater self-efficacy
  • describe and exercise the culture and core values of Tarleton State University.
  • participate in the student leader led curriculum
  • reflect on their own values and journey to college

Program outcomes for Duck Camp:

  • Duck Camp provides opportunities for peer-to-peer connections while interacting with other new students, current student leaders, faculty, and staff.
  • Duck Camp provides new Texans skills and opportunities in order to build a community identity through team building activities and events.
  • Duck Camp provides social and emotional connections with Tarleton State University through programs and initiatives.
  • Duck Camp provides new students the opportunity to grow in self-efficacy through engaging in programs and initiatives.
  • Duck Camp programs and initiatives immerse new students in the culture of Tarleton State University and the institution’s core values.
